Try using a plunger to release the clog. If you don’t have one handy, pour a half cup of dish soap or laundry detergent into the bowl, followed by a pot of boiling water. Then wait a few minutes before flushing. If that doesn’t work, you could have a more stubborn clog or something stuck in the line. Give our plumbers a call at (518) 792-7114.
This usually means there’s a clog somewhere in the line. You can try using drain chemicals, like Drano®, or a natural solution of dish soap and hot water, followed by a cup of baking soda and vinegar, which will create a bubbling reaction. Wait a few minutes and flush with hot water. If the drain continues to drain slowly, it’s important to contact a plumber. You could have a serious blockage, which will eventually cause your pipes to leak or burst.
To eliminate odors and breakdown food particles, sprinkle a ½ cup of baking soda into the disposal and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then, add a cup of vinegar and let it bubble for 10 minutes before turning on the cold water and running the disposal. You can also try grinding up lemon and orange peels or purchase a garbage disposal cleaner, like Plink® balls.
There may also be serious long-term effects from prolonged exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted from furniture or improperly stored or maintained household chemicals and appliances. These health effects can vary in severity and may include asthma, respiratory disease, heart disease and cancer.
If used too frequently, drain cleaning chemicals could cause your pipes to deteriorate. If you’re experiencing frequent or stubborn clogs there could be something else going on with your plumbing. Our plumbers can snake the line and perform other diagnostics to find and fix the problem. Give us a call at (518) 792-7114.

Corroded gaskets, valves, and o-rings can all cause a faucet to leak. To check for damage and repair faulty parts, turn off the water supply and cover the drain with a towel so you don’t lose any parts. Remove the handles, packing nut and stem, and check for damage. Next, remove the o-rings, washers and valve seals, and inspect for corrosion and damage.
Clean the parts with white vinegar to remove any water sediments. Make sure to replace any damaged parts with an exact match and reassemble the faucet, replacing the washer first, then the o-ring, stem, packing nut, screw and handle. If your faucet continues to leak, give our plumbers a call at (518) 792-7114.
Tankless hot water heaters provide endless, on-demand hot water. They’re also more energy efficient and tend to have a longer lifespan than traditional storage tanks. However, whether or not a tankless hot water heater is right for your household depends on your hot water usage habits, the size of your pipes, and your budget. Our plumbers can talk to you about your needs and options, and provide you with hot water heater repair, replacement and installation. To schedule a free consultation, contact us or call (518) 792-7114.
According to the EPA, replacing an old toilet with a more water-efficient model can cut your water usage by 20-60% and save you an average of $140 per year. However, you want to make sure you purchase a toilet that both conserves water and works well.
Look for low-flow toilets with a WaterSense certification label that uses 1.28 gallons per flush (GPF), has a MaP score of 1,000, and a 16.5-inch bowl height. Our plumbing experts can also help you choose the right toilet for your household, and can provide plumbing installation, as well as complete bathroom renovations. Contact us for an estimate.
Our licensed plumbers have the training, experience, and equipment to safely and effectively handle a variety of plumbing issues. We also ensure compliance with plumbing codes and regulations, which can help protect you from potential errors or malfunctions.
